We can get into the “algorithmic” details that will move your site to the top spot for your preferred keywords. However, the painful thing is that what holds true today won’t tomorrow. Yes, the basics will hardly ever change but the details will.

So how do you approach SEO?
Some people work very hard just to game the system. They do NOT really spend the time to understand what their niche really wants and make delivery of such in their content. People in this category are almost always chasing their tails. However, there are also many clueless folks who reside at the other extreme: They believe that all they have to do is provide great content and their SEO work is done. They have been sold the lie that Google rewards great content and so they should NOT even bother to do any self promotion. Painfully, this group will also experience disappointments.

The right spot is somewhere in-between. You need to have great content and there are technical aspects that you must grasp if you want to rank high for any meaningful keyword or phrase. Get those right and then have great content and you must get rewarded. Blending both what your visitors want and what the search engines need is key here.

Here’s an easy way to go about it:
First and foremost, make sure you find out what people in your niche are really interested in. When you find it, make sure you take your time to give them the best content you are capable of. It is NOT ok to deliver rehashed content. If you cannot give them something that isn’t PLR, don’t. Don’t get me wrong, though: There is a wide variety of great PLR content out there. However, you have to add your own peculiar twist to make it stand out.

Deliver your content in as many different formats as possible. Some people prefer videos. However, some people are still on dial up and might NOT be able to watch your stuff. Therefore, give them options they can take advantage of. Then make sure you syndicate your content on as many resources (third party sites) as are available to you. Repurpose your content for each of those sites.

Build a strong followership. You can do this with a blog and by building an email list using a reputable email management service. Once you’ve done this, make sure you inform your followers and subscribers when you have something new (by way of a blog post, new video at Youtube, new kindle book, etc).

If you’ve done a great job of repurposing your content each time you developed something then you shouldn’t have any problems getting the links in. The links could come in the form of tweets, likes, bookmarks, blog mentions and so on.

But here’s the sweet part…
You can use your followers on the different platforms to promote each of your posts, articles, videos, documents, Kindle book, podcast and so on. It’s like redirecting traffic across various online properties.

Rinse and repeat over and over again and you will have enough links to rank high for your desired keyword. The good thing about this strategy is that it will help you create stable traffic while doing your SEO. While you will get oodles of traffic from the SEs for this, you won’t have to over-depend on them.
